Practice Highlights:

  • Represents multiple clients as litigator and negotiator in landlord-tenant and bankruptcy matters.
  • Assists Senior Associates in the defense of fair housing claims.
  • Aggressively advocates for clients’ private property rights in both state and federal court.
  • Achieved a rare court victory when, in only one hearing, removed a squatter who had taken over residence at a client’s property.
  • In bankruptcy court, obtained dismissal of debtor’s motion for contempt without hearing based on unfounded claim of violation of the automatic stay
  • Aggressively advocated for creditors in federal bankruptcy court against a debtor who owed $10k+ in total post-petition debt.
  • Successfully negotiated with lienholder of abandoned and dilapidated mobile home to release their interest and obtained a court order allowing demolition of the home on site to further expedite its removal.
  • An apartment complex was originally charged with two civil infractions by the city rental inspection department. Successfully negotiated dismissal of the rental code violations and client paid minimal fine to avoid any further penalties and fees associated with the alleged infractions.
  • After two hours of oral argument, obtained summary disposition in favor of our client to formally terminate the tenancy of a mobile home owner who was housing unregistered occupants listed on the public sex offender registry. This disposition nullified the need to proceed with a jury trial and saved our client from having to pay the sizeable fees associated with that.
  • Tenant filed CH 13 Bankruptcy, but our client was not properly notified.  Was able to get a claim in the bankruptcy proceedings allowed even though it was two years past the deadline.
  • Obtained dismissal of MDCR civil rights claim where tenant alleged reverse racial discrimination. Tenant had been previously evicted for being involved with an unlawful discharge of firearm in their mobile home. The dismissal upheld that there was no discrimination and this further reinforced the underlying eviction was lawful.
